Character: Asami Sato.
Fandom: Avatar: The Legend of Korra.
Personality:
History: Over yonder - I will sum up the important points if needed!
Timeline: Post-episode 12.
Abilities: Asami is a very skilled and varied driver, to the point where she is Team Avatar's unofficial driver. She can ride amotorcycle Satocycle(?), Satomobiles, and... whatever they call race cars. She is skilled at using the terrain to her advantage, able to adjust for an environmental change in a moment, such as all the times she calls for Korra or Bolin to create ramps from earth. Dukes of Hazzard have nothing on Asami! If it exists, she can drive it -- and very likely subvert a perilous situation at the same time.
She's also very skilled at close-quarters hand-to-hand combat, able to neutralise several opponents in a matter of moments. Her fighting style tends toward disabling her opponents as quickly as possible and using their own momentum against them, and generally prefers to fight hand-to-hand rather than with weapons... although not always. (See below!)
Inventory: The clothes on her back and the taser glove she acquired from the Equalists. It conducts and shoots off its own electrical current, which can render people unconscious or stunned.

Character: Asami Sato.
Fandom: Avatar: The Legend of Korra.
Personality:
If you're ever wondering what the personification of silk hiding steel would be like, look no farther than Asami Sato.
Sweet, even tempered and gracious, Asami is in many ways the archetypal definition of a high class lady. She’s unfailingly polite in social situations, quick to lend a hand if it’s needed and to apologise if she believes she’s wronged someone. It’s easy to initially see her as the tranquil, feminine foil to Korra’s rougher, excitable character – but there’s far more to Asami than that.
Having lost her mother at a very young age to an act of violence, Asami was taught the intricacies of self-defense to ensure she’d never become a victim of the unkind side of society. She’s also well-trained behind the figurative wheel of most, if not all transport vehicles, being able to expertly drive everything from a motorcycle to a forklift to a mecha suit. A soft exterior does not always indicate a weak interior, as Asami proves time and time again, repeatedly getting herself out of sticky and potentially lethal situations without as much as turning a hair. There’s a certain amount of hardened pragmatism to the way she conducts herself in more action-oriented situations, such as forcefully running a fellow racecar driver into the wall during a race to assure her own victory – smirking the entire time. She is not someone to be trifled with and won’t be seen as weak or diminutive.
Asami is also very resourceful. She holds her own as the sole non-bender in a group full of them, utilising the weapons of her defeated opponents without a shred of reluctance – first, the taser glove the Equalists used, and then a mecha suit her father designed. The latter, she knows how to use almost immediately after sitting in it, saying it is driven just like a forklift. She’s willing to use whatever’s available to her advantage, demonstrating quick thinking and twisting most dire situations so they work to her advantage, and the advantage of people she’s fighting alongside.
Not one to betray her convictions, Asami holds tight to her beliefs even when they cause her personal pain. When her father is found to be in the thick of the Equalist revolution, she casts him aside due to what she believes are his harmful and misguided actions – and gives up the princess lifestyle she can been accustomed to simultaneously. Never once is Asami shown regretting her choice, bearing the weight of it with as much class and dignity as is given to her.
Somewhat of a romantic, Asami is definitely someone who wears her heart on her sleeve. She’s given to perhaps intense displays of affection, particularly early on in her relationship with Mako, and isn’t hesitant to tell him how she feels.
Regardless of her romantic leanings, she’s not one to get affected or overly emotional in a tough situation. She demonstrates this when she takes her father on in a mecha battle and defeats him, showing no weakness or reluctance. She also demonstrates this when she finds herself in a love triangle, caught between Mako’s feelings for her and his growing feelings for Korra. While initially jealous and suspicious, and then later rightfully demanding honesty from Mako regarding his twisting emotions, Asami does not let it get in the way of what needs to be done nor does she act out because of it. She’s far too polite to express her discomfort and she’s far too practical to let it interfere with everything else that was going on. The worst of her behaviour comes out when she’s distrustful, prim and blunt toward Mako.
She proves she’s not one to place undue blame on others, either. This is shown when Asami insists she still values Korra as a friend, only blaming Mako for the sour turn the relationship was taking. She was still willing to be a source of encouragement to the young Avatar, reassuring her when she was scared.
At her worst, Asami is a little too trusting, a little too quick to put faith in others and open her heart to them - again, her relationship with Mako and her love for her father are good examples of where this has gone rather wrong for her. However, her main flaws come from her heart and she never falters in being a good person; the kind of person you want to have in your corner.

Asami peers over the landscape, her steps faltering – only imperceptibly, nothing so telling that a stranger would notice. Her chest feels tight, but that’s nothing new. The goose prickles down the length of her arms are new, hidden beneath her usual layers. She doesn’t give them any time either, focusing fully on studying her surroundings. Not knowing the layout of a place was always a disadvantage, her father had –
She inhales before she can finish that thought. Untangling the knots between truth and lies is far too much of a headache for her right now, when all she wants was a familiar face, something to eat, and her bike.
It’s not the city she grew up in and knew as closely as she knew her own home – her old home, she’s quick to correct, filled with the cherished artifacts of her beautiful mother and all the ways her father could twist and pervert in his misaligned grasps for vengeance. She hadn’t set foot in that place in weeks. The other place – the quiet, small room overlooking the sea, with no maids and no fresh fruit plate brought to her bedside every morning – hadn’t been home no matter how hard she tries. She had always felt like a guest.
A change of scenery might not be all bad; she reasons this with every bit of optimism still left to her. Asami knows her life is deeply in flux, pitted at the crossroad of love and loss and rebuilding what’s left – but is she ready to place her hands in that mess? A reprieve where no one knows her, after losing so much, sounds sweeter than it has any right to and shame knots her stomach.
She can make the best of it – she can make it work for her, meet this new world in the middle. Asami is able to raise her head to the sky and find beauty in it… even if there is so much missing, sounds and smells she could otherwise map the roads in Republic City by.
Something pricks her neck and Asami reacts instinctively, slapping down on a mosquito.
That part’s not so great, perhaps.

[ She’s never seen a device like the communicator before, but it’s not difficult to figure out. Even so, she turns it over in her hand a few times before attempting it, giving it a few testing pokes. ]

[ Was that broadcast? Asami blinks a little as the, “message sending!” screen flashes and hurriedly wipes her thumb against the screen, attempting to stop it.
It doesn’t work, for obvious reasons, and she tries again. ]
sorry
never seen something like this before
[ Message sending!
She clicks another button and her face swims onto the screen, reflecting bad at her in equal measure. It’s some sort of moving picture, she figures out after a few moments; like one of those film reels that were starting to appear. Asami relaxes visibly and lets it broadcast. ]
Hey. [ It’s clear from the faintly awkward set of her mouth that Asami’s not used to talking to people she can’t easily identify. For all she knows, her words are just going out into empty space and this was some sort of cruel trick. ] I found this strange device lying around when I came to… sorry if it belongs to you, but I didn’t see anyone around so I picked it up. My name is Asami and I’m kind of lost – I’m actually from the city, so if anyone can tell me which way to go to get back, I’d really appreciate it.
